We chat to gorgeous Robyn Lesley Jones from Jozi town!
Tell us a bit about your journey up to now? As a young girl I always knew that I wanted to have an influence on other people's lives, I wanted to become a doctor or surgeon but at the same time I enjoyed being luminous and I discovered that through dancing which I thoroughly enjoy. My mom introduced me to ballet at the age of 5 and I continued dancing at the age of 12 earning myself my provincial colours in rhythmic gymnastics. During my high school years I participated in extra muriel actives such as cheerleading, hockey and orienteering and after matriculating then ventured into studying business science. I participated in a few beauty pageants and then decided to join a modeling agency and in that time when I joined my first agency and did my first professional photo shoot, that sparked my love for being in front of the camera, I saw no growth and decided to start entering modeling competitions which had given me exposure to great opportunities and experiences. I stumbled across the World Swimsuit page on Facebook sometime last year and I've been following up on the page ever since then waiting patiently for the 2015 competition so that I could enter it and now I am so excited to be one of the finalist!
Who is the first person you called when you found out that you’re a finalist? My mom was the first one I called, she is my number one fan.
What is your Signature physical feature? My eyes
Give us your Words to live by: Choose not to accept the false boundaries and limitations created by past experiences, others expectations of you or your circumstances and venture beyond your fears and set beliefs into your inner truth to find your passion and discover your goals. Because I truly believe that if you follow your passion success follows. Being at peace with who you are, being true to yourself, accepting your flaws and imperfections and being a genuine person will take you very far in life because the only person you want to be better than is the person who you were yesterday and for the rest of your life that will always be your only competition.
You’re in great shape; tell us a bit about your exercise regime: Thank you! My key to staying in shape is by dancing, because it allows me to work out every inch of my body without feeling like it’s a workout. I’ll do freestyle hip hop at least twice a week in the comfort of my own home and I’d go to gym once a week were a I participate in a fitness endurance and body toning class. I'm lucky to have adopted good genes so staying in shape isn't that difficult for me.
What are Beauty essentials for you? Bio Oil, Body firming lotion, Fragrance, Eye liner, Mascara, Brow & eyeliner, Bronzer, Lipgloss, Sun screen, Soap free cleanser, Baby wipes
What is your skincare secret? My skincare secret lies in drinking tones of water, using a good body wash and a soap free cleanser for my face. Moisturizing my skin is also very important to me as it keeps my skin nice and smooth. I use bio oil in the evening all over my body including my face and when getting ready in the morning I use my firming lotion and sun screen to protect my skin.
If you had to pick one feature to make-up… Eyes or lips: Definitely without a doubt I’d pick my eyes.
Air-dry or blowout: Blowout
What is the best advice you ever got from your mom: Everybody is destined for their own path in life but you need to work hard to accomplish what you want, unfortunately as your mother I could only groom you into the person you are today but I cannot help you accomplish your dreams, I taught you how to fly but now I'm allowing you to take flight, the world is your oyster and I want you to grow and know that your pearls are scattered all over this earth go and harvest them. Become a life long learner, invest in your knowledge as it's something nobody can take away from you. Your thoughts and what you confess with your mouth projects into the universe and comes back to you and the only way you are going to make it through this lifetime is by having a positive mindset, through faith and prayer.
Best advice from the pros: Being great at what you do will sustain you only until a certain extent but when you love what you do, you'll never have to work a day in your life.
What do you consider a necessary splurge? I’d consider traveling as a necessary splurge because its an experience that nobody can take away from you.
Drugstore favourite: Skincare products
Fragrance of choice: Cool Water by Davidoff
Who is your icon? Jeanine “D” De Gouveia
Where has been your favourite location to shoot? I don't have a specific favorite location but I absolutely love outdoor location shoots because I can easily adapt to my surroundings and work off that.
What is your favourite city to visit? Phuket Town
Name one thing on your bucket list… Sky Diving
Who is your favourite photographer to work with? Jonathan Munnik, he photographs great and works well with my features and skin tone.
Do you like to cook? What is your favourite dish? I absolutely love cooking, I find it very therapeutic. My favorite dish is a chicken Alfredo Pasta.
A bit of a naughty question… Do you have a beau? I do not have a significant other.
If not… What does a guy need to do to win your heart? In order to win my heart he needs to be intelligent, humorous and spontaneous because I'm the type to get bored very quickly as I’m always looking for a new adventure so he definitely has to keep me on my toes. I don't have a specific type of guy that I go for but he surely has to have charm and be good looking. A guy with sharp features (jawline, thick eyebrow, bold eyes and a bright smile) will be the first to catch my attention.
